Biography

Pablo Derqui

Pablo Derqui (Barcelona, 1976). Graduated in Humanities (1998), he completed his training in performing arts by obtaining a degree in Acting from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona (2002). He began his career by participating in multiple high-level public and private productions, both in television, cinema, and theater, making his debut at the Teatre Lliure in Barcelona at a very young age and achieving television successes such as "Porca Misèria" or Ventdelplà. In cinema, he took his first steps in feature films such as "Salvador" (2006) directed by Manuel Huerga or "Barcelona (a map)" (2007) by Ventura Pons. And in 2022, "Minotauro, Picasso, and the Women of Guernica" by Julio Medem. In 2009, while rehearsing Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman", he met one of the directors with whom he shares the most stage complicity: "Mario Gas", with whom he won two theater awards, the Josep Estruch Award for Best Actor for "Calígula" (2018) and the Butaca Award for Best Supporting Actor for "Death of a Salesman" (2009).

Since then, he has worked in national and international productions of film, theater, and television, with directors of recognized prestige such as Julio Medem, Pablo Larraín, Hilda Hidalgo, Jordi Frades, Mariano Barroso, Eduard Cortés, Silvia Munt, Oriol Broggi, Marta Angelat, Julio Manrique, Andrés Lima, Pere Riera, David Selvas, Àngel Llàcer, Emilio Aragón, Salvador García Calvo, Alvaro Ron, among others. Additionally, he has developed an extensive career as a dubbing actor and advertising announcer.

Among his extensive career highlights are works such as Isabel (2012), The Cathedral of the Sea (2018), The Hunt: Monteperdido (2019), and The Invisible Line (2020). He will soon premiere Tell Me Who I Am (2020) and Benidorm (2020).

In 2007, he was awarded for the first time with a Butaca Award, and since then, he has received multiple recognitions from both the public and critics, such as the SGAE Award for Best Male Performance (2009), the ACE New York Award (2014), and most recently the Best Actor Award at the Ciudad de Palencia Theater Festival (2019).
